We learned a ton about the landscape of the NFL after one week of football. Now, it’s time to use that information to create a dominating Week 2 FanDuel lineup.

Last week’s lineup had strengths and weaknesses. The combination of Drew Brees and Michael Thomas was impeccable. Although the Saints lost, the signal caller tossed for 439 yards and three scores. Thomas was responsible for one of those touchdowns and caught 16 passes while compiling a career high 180 receiving yards. Both Brees and Michael finished in the top-ten for points for Week 1.

Kansas City looked great, but Kareem Hunt wasn’t special. Hunt carried the ball 16 times for 49 yards. This was only the second time in his NFL career that he was held without a reception. Baltimore dismantled Buffalo, 47-3, but Alex Collins was irrelevant outside of his touchdown.

The wide receiver core struggled, with the exception of Thomas. Stefon Diggs, who played in the FLEX position, Chris Hogan and Danny Ammednola combined for eight receptions, 80 yards and one touchdown. At tight end, Austin Seferian- Jenkins finished with three catches for 25 yards. He hauled in a touchdown pass in the second quarter, but it was called back because of a penalty.

Minnesota’s defense started 2018, exactly where they left off. They forced Jimmy Garoppolo to throw three interceptions and proved he is human. This lineup combined for 113.66 points.

Here were Week 1’s top performers at each position:

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 42.3

RB: Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints – 38.6 & James Conner, Pittsburgh Steelers – 31.7

WR: Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs – 38.8; Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints – 30 & DeSean Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 29.1

TE: Jared Cook, Oakland Raiders – 22.50

FLEX: Randal Cobb, Green Bay Packers – 24.7 & Kenny Stills, Miami Dolphins – 24.6

DEF: New York Jets – 26

Similarly to last week, the Thursday and Monday night game will not be included. All fantasy points discussed are based on FanDuel’s scoring system.

Quarterback: Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers- $7,400

Despite losing, Rivers had an excellent week one performance. He completed 34 of 51 passes for 424 yards and three touchdowns. Rivers scored 29.96 points, the third most at the quarterback position.

His numbers would have been even better, if it wasn’t for a few dropped passes. Last season Rivers threw for 400+ yards only once, but tossed three or more touchdowns in four games.

This week, the Chargers travel across the country to take on the Buffalo Bills. The Bills got pummeled by the Baltimore Ravens, 47-3, and looked like the worst team in football. If Joe Flacco and company were able to pick apart the Bills’ defense, Rivers should have another field day.

Rivers has had a ton of success when playing against Buffalo, defeating the Bills in five out of six matchups. He has thrown for 1,115 yards, 10 touchdowns and only one interception. Be confident when choosing Rivers as your quarterback this week.
