Flex: Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers- $5,600

Defense: New York Jets, $3,700

The third and final Charger to make this week’s line up is running back Ekeler. Yes, Melvin Gordon is still the starting back in Los Angeles, but if Week 1 was any indication on how the Chargers plan on using Ekeler, you will want to have him on your roster.

Ekeler rushed for 39 yards on five attempts, while averaging 7.8 yards per carry. He played an important role in the pass game, catching five passes for 87 yards and one score.

According to Pro Football focus, Ekeler earned a 91.2 grade and was the top running back with five or more snaps in Week 1. He was tied sixth at the position, with four forced missed tackles. Ekeler made the most of his 22 snaps and definitely earned himself more playing time this upcoming week.

Defensively, the New York Jets are the play. The Jets had the best defensive fantasy football performance in Week 1, scoring 26 points.

This unit was extremely prepared against the Detroit Lions, they looked very athletic and physical. Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for four interceptions, this was the fifth time he tossed four or more interceptions in a single game in his career. Back-up Matt Cassel also threw an interception, despite having only six pass attempts.

Four different players recorded interceptions including, Darron Lee (2), Jamal Adams, Trumaine Johnson and Morris Clairborne. Lee’s third quarter interception was returned for a touchdown and Adams’ INT was the first of his career.

Special teams also played a role in the team’s victory. Andre Roberts returned a 78 yard punt return for a touchdown.

The Jets take on the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium this Sunday. Ryan Tannehill threw two interceptions in his Week 1 match up against the Tennessee Titans. Tannehill has nine career interceptions against the Jets, tied for the second most against any opponent in his career.

This defense can force turnovers and is talented enough to do it on a consistent basis.
