Elton Brand was selected as the Sixers new GM on Tuesday, and it is really making Philly fans scratch their heads at the selection.

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly found their new GM in Elton Brand, and the pick has made a lot of fans confused right now.

They should be, as well as the rest of us.

On Tuesday night, NBA Scoop God Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Brand, who used to play for the Sixers, impressed the front office so much that they promoted him from VP of Basketball Operations to General Manager.

Brand will have some big shoes to fill as he will take over the reigns left by Bryan Colangelo, the architect of the Sixers current roster. He will now be tasked with trying to find the right pieces to fit a championship puzzle, in Philadelphia of all places.

Everyone knows that Philly fans are not very patient when it comes to their sports teams, and it’s quite puzzling as to why the Sixers brass would put their faith in a person who has never led an NBA front office before.

Now, this is not a knock on Brand, not in the slightest. He could very well prove that he is the right man to mold this Sixers team into what many expect them to become, a championship team. But without any experience as a GM, it’s hard to gauge just how effective he will be.

He could do great.

He could stink.

It’s one of those slippery slopes that is hard to really pin down. When news of the pick broke, Sixers fans were greatly confused:

Now, we seriously doubt that Brand will be another Sam Hinkie (who we still think the Sixers should enshrine beside Rocky Balboa), but we can’t say for sure that this was a good move.

dark. Next. Building a case for Bam Adebayo as a starter

As we said, we are just as puzzled with Brand as you are, Sixers fans.
