The Carolina Panthers were almost a touchdown underdog heading into their matchup with Atlanta, and they were pretty much manhandled by the Falcons on Sunday. The Falcons led the game the entire way, and exposed some weaknesses on this Panthers roster, which they better fix in a hurry if they want to make a return trip to the playoffs.

Cam Newton is one of the best playmakers in the game at quarterback, and second-year running back Christian McCaffrey is going to be a star in this league. On defense, the Panthers have some solid players, including Julius Peppers, who is on the last legs of his career.

The draft is going to enable the Panthers to get better on the defensive side of the ball, and they should look to bring in a player who can replace Peppers. Zach Allen from Boston College is one of the best edge rushers this draft class has to offer, and he would be a guy who could really flourish early in this Panthers defense.

Carolina was one of three members of the NFC South to make the playoffs last season, and they have the talent to get back there this season. However, they have to be better against their division foes than they were last week, but the loss was expected, as nearly their entire offensive line was injured.
