Fantasy Football, Week 5: Best lineup with start/sit advice
By Dylan Broady
Lineup
QUARTERBACKS
Start: Alex Smith, Washington Redskins
Alex Smith has been the right man for the job since becoming the Redskins new quarterback. Smith has thrown for 767 yards, adding four touchdowns and only one interception. Week 5 he gets a great matchup against the Saints’ 25th-ranked defense.
Sit: Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Russell Wilson gets an unlucky draw Week 5 against a stingy hard hitting Los Angeles Rams defense. Wilson brings his 888 passing yards and seven touchdowns onto the field. While Los Angeles brings its 16.8 points allowed per game. Their last meeting the Rams blew the Seahawks out, 42-7.
RUNNING BACKS
Start: Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers
126 rushing yards a game. McCaffrey has rushed for 271 total yards on 46 carries, adding 22 receptions for 157 yards. Look for CMC to get going early and often against a Giants defense that is terrible against the run.
Sit: LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills
Shady simply hasn’t been able to put together a good game all season. His offense ranks 31st in the league. The Bills rank 23rd overall in rushing yards per game. Shady has only managed 85 total rushing yards on 21 carries. The Titans defense has only allowed 18.3 points per game. Shady will have an uphill battle in this Week 5 matchup.
TIGHT ENDS
Start: Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles
Zack Ertz leads the Eagles with 327 receiving yards and 31 receptions through four games. The Minnesota Vikings defense coming into Week 5 rank 22nd overall. Allowing 381.5 total yards a game and 27.5 points per game. The connection between Ertz and Wentz is undeniable.
Sit: Jimmy Graham, Green Bay Packers
Jimmy Graham in Week 5 will go up against the Detroit Lions and their 10th-overall defense, second-ranked against the pass. Graham has only amassed 169 receiving yards and one score. Detroit has only allowed 171.8 passing yards a game. In an offense full of weapons don’t look for Graham to have a breakout game against this stingy Lions pass defense.
