FanDuel NFL: Best lineup for Week 5
Wide Receiver: Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers
FanDuel Price: $6,500
I want to buy up a couple of players in this Chargers vs. Raiders showdown, because it looks like it should be a high-scoring affair. I don’t trust either of these two secondaries, and the Raiders are coming off of a game against the Cleveland Browns that went into overtime and featured 40+ points scored by both offenses.
Amari Cooper is a hard receiver to trust, despite the fact that he has all the talent in the world. It often seems like he and Derek Carr aren’t on the same page. Carr will miss him on easy passes, or Cooper will take the wrong option on the route.
But when the two get it together and the coaching staff prioritizes targets for Cooper, magic happens. He blew up in the second half against the Browns after Terrance Mitchell went down, hauling in 8 of 12 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown.
What makes me optimistic about Cooper repeating in Week 5 is the fact that he usually lines up on the left side of the formation. While the Chargers defense is 5th in the league at defending passes to the right, they are 26th against passes to the left. They are especially vulnerable to getting beat deep, and that’s where Cooper thrives.
Cooper remains the No. 1 receiver on the Raiders, especially when they actually try to get him involved. I have confidence they will, and I like the matchup against Los Angeles.
Wide Receiver: Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins
FanDuel Price: $6,300
AJ Green is the Cincinnati Bengals biggest star, but Tyler Boyd might have just as good chemistry with Andy Dalton. The 2016 second-round pick is the X-Factor in the Bengals offense, and he’s the guy that Dalton turns to when he needs help on third and fourth downs.
Boyd was beyond clutch in Week 4, converting two fourth downs on the Bengals game-winning drive and finishing with 11 receptions on 15 targets for 100 yards. He’s way undervalued, and he needs to be a regular in your fantasy lineup at this price. The Bengals high-scoring ways aren’t going away anytime soon.
Furthermore, while the Dolphins are the best in the league at defending No. 1 wideouts, they struggle against No .2 options. Boyd is the clear No. 2 guy in Cincinnati, and that’s a great spot with Dalton dealing at quarterback this season.
Wide Receiver: Kenny Stills, Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals
FanDuel Price: $6,300
Kenny Stills caught just three passes for 40 yards in the Miami Dolphins blowout loss to the New England Patriots last week, and that was a huge mistake on the part of head coach Adam Gase. Stills is the most talented player on the Dolphins offense and must be a bigger part of their gameplan, especially since he’s capable of averaging over 18 yards per reception.
I think the Cincinnati Bengals defense will be vulnerable to a playmaker like Stills. Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins must bounce back on offense, and while Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson are solid receivers, Stills is the big ticket.
The Bengals allow the fifth-most passing yards in the league, and part of that is because Andy Dalton has found himself in some high-scoring games, including last week’s win over Atlanta. While Miami’s offense doesn’t have the most fire-power, the punch they pack comes from Stills. He could have a strong week.
