RB: T.J. Yeldon, Jacksonville Jaguars

Leonard Fournette re-injured his hamstring in the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-12 win over the New York Jets last week, and, in addition to Bortles, he’s a player worth targeting in fantasy football. It’s unclear how much time Fournette will miss, but because he’s already re-injured his hamstring and is an important player on a team that is favored to win its division, the coaching staff will likely want to play things safe with him.

What makes life easier for the Jaguars is the fact that T.J. Yeldon has been solid when called upon to produce in Fournette’s absence this season. He had 100 yards from scrimmage in Week 4 against New York, making most of his big plays in the passing game due to the stingy nature of the Jets run defense.

Yeldon has 51 rushing yards per game this season with three total touchdowns, and he’s primed for some solid fantasy numbers for however long Fournette is out. Many fantasy owners have wisely pounced on Yeldon since the announcement of Fournette’s latest hamstring issue, but Yeldon remains unowned in nearly half of standard fantasy leagues.

While the former second-round pick out of Alabama isn’t the most efficient rusher, he is pretty consistent and offers some value in the passing game. Corey Grant will be Blake Bortles’s go-to pass-catching threat at the running back position, but Yeldon has found value with over 40 receiving yards in each of his past two games. That’s an important boost for fantasy owners.
