No. 4 Royce Freeman vs New York Jets

I feel like we talk about Denver’s backfield more than we try to. Freeman and Lindsay are interesting though and were a huge help in what almost ended as a win for the Broncos against Kansas City (it didn’t).

The Broncos plan to use Royce Freeman more this week for starters, which could lend itself to a big Sunday. 219 yards on 44 carries so far this season, with a trio of touchdowns, Freeman’s average per carry could be a reason that expanded role could mean a lot more.

Last week against Kansas City? Freeman finished with 67 yards on eight carries and a sizzling 8.4 yards per carry. Overall, the former Duck has a clean 5.0 yards per carry average this season and if there’s one back I think ups that average this weekend it’s Freeman.

No. 3 Wendell Smallwood vs Minnesota

Smallwood is ultimate boom or bust but he’s filling a spot that Philly needs. Running back wealth and injuries go hand in hand. Ajayi and Sproles have been banged up, call in Clement and Smallwood. Smallwood has been sneaky good in a limited showing, especially the week I start Clement. I digress.

Smallwood’s best showing remains the Colts game. That win? 10 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown to go with three catches for 35 yards.

Sproles and Clement may still not be good to go this week. If not, I like Smallwood in a matchup of teams in search of wins after frustrating losses.
