TE: Geoff Swaim, Dallas Cowboys

Before Week 5, Geoff Swaim was owned in just 1.1% of NFL.com fantasy leagues, making him pretty much an unknown commodity. Facing a favorable matchup against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football, Swaim was the only Dallas Cowboys pass-catcher who showed up for Dak Prescott, leading the team with 55 yards on 3 receptions.

Previously, Swaim had a nifty Week 4 performance for the Cowboys, scooping up a touchdown reception for any fantasy owner desperate enough to start him. Tight end is an even more difficult position to find talent at than wide receiver, and Swaim qualifies as a hidden gem.

I’d honestly expect Prescott to target him more often, because it says something that Swaim was the only pass-catcher to show up against Houston. Tavon Austin, Deonte Thompson, Cole Beasley, and Allen Hurns were absolutely horrendous against the Texans defense, and the first two of those four names don’t belong on a winning team’s roster. They’ve never produced beyond special teams in their NFL careers, yet the Cowboys are forced to give them meaningful snaps.

The fact that Swaim was more productive than all four of those receivers combined speaks volumes about his future role in the Cowboys offense. Prescott trusts his tight end more than those other guys, and I’d expect his role to increase after he caught all 3 passes thrown at him in Week 5.
