Tre’Quan Smith, New Orleans Saints

Stats: three receptions, 111 yards and two touchdowns

All offseason Tre’Quan Smith turned heads with his big-play ability. However, the New Orleans Saints had enough veteran pieces at wide receiver that Smith struggled to crack the lineup. That all changed this past Monday night.

Smith saw his first meaningful action and responded with some truly explosive plays. The Saints needed someone to step up in the absence of Ted Ginn Jr.. Smith provided some Ginn-type plays deep down field.

His breakout performance should make him one of the more added players in fantasy football. The Saints can’t ignore the impact he had this past week and will likely find a way to get him a few more looks.

New Orleans has seen its offense get off to an extremely fast start this year. They appeared to take that to another level last night with the emergence of Smith and return of Mark Ingram.

This is a team that is going to score plenty of points. However, Smith remains a high upside play with more downs likely. He’s someone you add with the hopes he becomes more involved as the season progresses.

Either way, Smith is a name to know and could be one of those high-upside adds that help win you your league.
