Rams get good news on Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp
The Rams finished last week’s game short on healthy wide receivers, but both Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp are on track to play this week.
Sean McVay is a brilliant play-caller and Jared Goff is a talented quarterback, but neither wants to play a game short on talented wide receivers. That’s why the Los Angeles Rams are happy to report that both Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp stand a good chance to play this Sunday against the Broncos.
Neither wideout is a lock to play, but according to sources in Los Angeles, both took part in Wednesday’s walkthrough. That’s generally a good indication that a player’s health is trending in the right direction. Both receivers remain in the NFL’s concussion protocol, but McVay is optimistic about his chances of getting them both back this weekend.
In all honesty, the Rams shouldn’t need both stars to play to get past Denver. The Broncos defense doesn’t dominate opponents any longer, so a heavy dose of Todd Gurley on the ground plus some play action passes from Goff should be more than enough to light the scoreboard up against Vance Joseph’s team.
That means the Rams should err on the side of caution when it comes to both players. The only way either Cooks or Kupp should see the field this weekend is if they look to be fully recovered from their respective concussions. McVay and company should not take any chances with their dynamic wideouts.
