2019 NFL Draft Big Board: Dwayne Haskins enters first round debate
42. Anthony Johnson, WR, Buffalo
- Height: 6’1″
- Weight: 207
- Class: Senior
Anthony Johnson has so many traits that teams will like, and he’s off to a good start in 2018 when it comes to production. He has 18 catches for 308 yards and three touchdowns to this point, putting him on pace for a 1,200-yard season with double-digit touchdowns once again. Johnson has the ability to be a deep threat (17.1 yards per reception so far in 2018), but he also can do a lot after the catch with good burst in open space and good vision to evade tacklers.
Even for a six-foot-one receiver, he is a dominant player in the red zone thanks to good route running, strong hands, and the ability to stack defenders and make sure he is the only guy able to catch the ball. With so much promise and another good season, Johnson can work his way into first round conversation.
41. Zach Allen, DL, Boston College
- Height: 6’5″
- Weight: 285
- Class: Senior
It’s going to be tough for Zach Allen to repeat the 100 tackle season he had in 2017. However, he is proving to be a force on the Boston College defensive line so far in 2018. Boston College has moved him around the line a bunch so far, with snaps at both end spots and on the interior, something Allen is used to. It’s very possible that he plays three-technique with his size, so reps on the interior are important.
In six games in 2018, Allen has accumulated eight tackles for loss and three and a half sacks. While the production is slowly coming along, Allen is consistently using his lower body strength to collapse the pocket. That strength comes in handy to get offensive linemen off balance quickly after the snap. Teams will want him to get more familiar with pass rushing moves at his size.
