DraftKings NFL: Week 6 lineup
By Joe Romano
Wide Receivers
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals – $8700
Sitting atop the wide receiver rankings once again, Antonio Brown is coming off his best game of the short season. He benefited from a weak Atlanta secondary on his way to two touchdown grabs. Things get tougher this week with a road test with the Bengals. Brown will likely draw the NFL’s most underrated corner William Jackson for most of the game. Cincinnati has statistically given Brown trouble especially on the road. Be careful here but it is hard to deny this elite player as an option this week.
Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings vs Arizona Cardinals – $8500
A key wide receiver-corner matchup to watch this week is the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals. One of Adam Thielen or Stefon Diggs will draw the attention of Patrick Peterson. DraftKings clearly thinks it will be Diggs, which makes sense. Thielen does his damage from the slot, a place that Peterson is less likely to travel. The Vikings receiver is playing at an elite level and that should continue. However Arizona is the second toughest defense for opposing receivers this season, so be warned.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons – $8100
The best game of the season for the aforementioned Antonio Brown came at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. Now Mike Evans gets that same matchup coming off a bye. Jameis Winston back in the fold should help Evans out as well. Atlanta is one of the best five matchups for receivers. Playing in the dome and coming off a bye scream a big week for the Tampa receiver.
A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals vs Pittsburgh Steelers – $8000
The talent at wide receiver in the NFL has never been better. A.J. Green is continuing his dominant stretch on the league This is a prime matchup for the star receiver against the Steelers’ last ranked defense against receivers. In 13 career games against Pittsburgh Green has scored 8 times. The emergence of Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd should only increase the likelihood of a touchdown as well. For $700 cheaper than Brown, Green offers the better value and better matchup.
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $7900
Four of the five receivers are from two games, that has to be a first for DraftKings. A disappointing fantasy season for Julio Jones is not the same as a disappointing NFL season. Jones is once again in the top three in yards but his lack of touchdowns has tanked his fantasy value. Meanwhile his teammate, rookie Calvin Ridley has six tochdowns. Jones needs to score to be fantasy relevant and that can happen this week. Tampa Bay is the friendliest defense to opposing receivers. This is the same team that Jones averages 118 yards per game against and has scored 10 touchdowns in 12 games in his career against. Tampa is the type of unit that can cure Jones fantasy woes.
Value Wide Receivers
Keke Coutee, Houston Texans vs Buffalo Bills – $4600
There are two viable fantasy options in the Houston passing games at all times. The last two weeks it has been DeAndre Hopkins and Keke Coutee. Will Fuller has been hampered by an injury while Coutee has receiver almost three times the amount of targets. With Hopkins matched up against Tre White, already a lockdown corner in yeartwo, Coutee and Fuller should find some space to operate. Fuller will likely see over the top coverage, opening th space for Coutee. The $1500 savings from Fuller to Coutee is a wise choice, especially with a Deshaun Watson stack.
Ryan Grant, Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets – $4600
We are finally back to the point where Andrew Luck makes any pass catcher on his team a viable option. With T.Y. Hilton sidelined, the passing opportunities have been spread out. One player that has shown a chemistry with Luck has been slot receiver Ryan Grant. The free agent acquisition is set for another increased role should Hilton miss this week’s game. They face a Jets defense ranked in the bottom ten in points allowed to receivers.
Christian Kirk, Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings – $4200
Speaking of a connection with a quarterback, the rookie duo of Josh Rosen and Christian Kirk may have something in Arizona. The two rookies are still finding their footing but make perfect sense schematically with Rosen’s accuracy and Kirk’s ability to carve out a little space in the intermediate. With Larry Fitzgerald on the injury report, Kirk could see an even bigger role this week. Minnesota, this week’s opponent is one of the worst secondaries in the NFL at allowing points to fantasy receivers. If Rosen has time, Kirk is a sneaky play valued well below his expected outcome.
