High Salary PG

Players costing over $6,667

Russell Westbrook (at GS, $12,500): Needs 52.8 fantasy points. Westbrook is currently listed as a game-time-decision and his status might not be known until just before tip-off. If he plays, expect him to have some rust with his shot as he missed all of training camp and preseason. But he’s still Russell Westbrook, which means he’s still a stat stuffing machine. He’ll get his points, rebounds, and assists without too much trouble. He costs a big chunk of your salary, but no one in the league puts up numbers like Westbrook on a nightly basis. And you know he always brings it against the Warriors. Diagnosis: You’re committing a lot if you’re taking Westbrook, but he has the highest ceiling of any player on Tuesday and it’s a matchup he usually does well against.

Steph Curry (vs OKC, $9,600): Needs 40.5 fantasy points If Westbrook doesn’t play, that’s good news for Curry. First off, the loss of Andre Roberson helps Curry out as it’s one less elite defender he has to deal with on the perimeter. And while Westbrook likes to take games off defensively, he typically locks in against Curry. Steph always has the ability to get hot from deep and he’ll chip in with assists and a couple of defensive plays. Diagnosis: No Westbrook should have you feeling confident in taking Curry. If Westbrook plays, Curry is unlikely to be a dud, but he may not provide the big game you’re looking for when spending this much of your salary cap.

Kyrie Irving (vs PHI, $8,400): Needs 35.5 fantasy points. I’m going to repeat this a lot in the upcoming slides: I have no clue what to make of the Celtics from a fantasy perspective. Especially not on opening night. They are extremely talented at all positions, but they play a brand of team basketball that hurts their numbers in the DFS world. Kyrie Irving has the highest ceiling of anyone on the team due to his scoring ability and the fact that the ball is in his hands most of the time. But the Celtics might be too balanced for their own good for DFS owners. Diagnosis: He’ll play well and get numbers. But like Curry, it might not be the big game you’re hoping for due to his team being too good

Quick Hits

Ben Simmons (at BOS, $10,000): Simmons has a high ceiling, but he struggled against the Celtics last season and in the playoffs. The Celtics have the personnel to make his life miserable and until he shows some sort of a jump shot, it’s tough to trust him in the matchup. You might get value, but not much more.
