High Value PG

Players costing $6,667 or under

Markelle Fultz (at BOS, $5,700): Needs 24.1 fantasy points Fultz is more certainly a mystery. The talent is most certainly there for the former No. 1 overall pick. But he needs to prove something in a meaningful game. And against the Celtics and their defense, I have my doubts that he’ll be able to prove himself on Tuesday. If you’re feeling risky, Fultz is a good option because his ceiling is fairly high. But proceed with caution. Diagnosis: Do you feel lucky?

Terry Rozier (vs PHI, $4,100): Needs 17.3 fantasy points. Who is the real Terry Rozier? Is it the guy we saw in the playoffs, who stepped up with the extra opportunities due to Kyrie Irving’s injury? Or is it the guy we’ve seen throughout his career, a solid player who had to concede backup point guard duties to Marcus Smart? We may not find out on opening night, but at this salary, there’s a lot to like about Rozier if that playoff confidence carries over into this season. Diagnosis: He’s going to get playing time, he’s in a position to succeed, and his salary is easy to swallow.

T.J. McConnell (at BOS, $3,600): Needs 15.2 fantasy points. He had a couple of strong games against the Celtics in the playoffs. But with Fultz possibly being healthy, his playing time moves to questionable. The Sixers would still be wise to give him minutes because he’s proven that he can contribute. His salary is easy to fit into your lineup and with the lowest score on your team getting dropped, he’s not even that much of a risk. Use the new FanDuel system to your advantage and pick up McConnell. Diagnosis: A punt option that isn’t actually a punt due to the new system. Could surprise if Fultz does indeed falter.
