7. Sam Darnold, QB, New York Jets

After mostly struggling in the previous few games, Darnold has five touchdown passes over the last two contests with over 19 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) in each game.

At first glance, Darnold’s upcoming schedule looks daunting. But the Minnesota Vikings (Week 7) have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (ESPN scoring), while the Chicago Bears (Week 8) just got torched for 380 yards by Brock Osweiler in Week 6 and have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in four of their five games. The Miami Dolphins (Week 9) have allowed over 300 passing yards in four of their last five games (including 334 to Darnold in Week 2).

Darnold is in QB2 territory as a waiver wire add now, either as a potential bye week fill-in over the next few weeks in deeper leagues or a starting option in two-quarterback/super-flex leagues over some heavy upcoming bye weeks. Don’t expect elite production, but Darnold has some sneaky fantasy upside for those that need to find a viable quarterback.
