6. Fresno State Bulldogs (MWC) 5-1
Fresno State did not have much trouble with their Week 7 opponent, moving up to 6 in the rankings with a 27-3 win over Wyoming. Marcus McMaryion had another great performance for Jeff Tedford’s team. McMaryion threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns and also led the team in rushing with 53 yards and two more scores. The Bulldogs have some big matchups down the stretch, facing Hawaii, Boise State, and San Diego State in their final six games.
Up next: Saturday at New Mexico.
5. Utah State Aggies (MWC) 5-1
Utah State made their debut in the rankings last week, and don’t plan on going anywhere. The Aggie offense was a machine in Week 7 against UNLV, taking a 42-7 lead into the half on their way to a 59-28 win. Sophomore quarterback Jordan Love lit up the Rebel defense for 322 yards and five touchdowns. Love also ran for 39 yards on four carries. The Aggies almost hit the 600-yard mark, settling for 598 yards of offense in the win. USU will likely battle Boise St. for the Mountain division crown in the MWC. The two teams face off the final weekend of the regular season.
Up next: Saturday at Wyoming.
