There is no doubt about it. The Oakland Raiders could be the worst team in the NFL this season, as a season that started with such hope has turned into an absolute nightmare. After trading away Khalil Mack before the season started, the Raiders have been on a steady decline ever since, and find themselves heading into their bye week at 1-5 through six games.

When head coach Jon Gruden came out of retirement, the expectation was he was the final piece to get this organization back to the top of the AFC West. However, he has blown up the roster since coming back, and word is that he is now trying to trade away Amari Cooper and Karl Joseph, the team’s first round picks in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Maybe he is trying to erase any memory of Reggie McKenzie’s draft classes, but when the Raiders do draft in 2019, they likely will be picking very early in round one. With that pick, they need to bring in some talent along the defensive line on the edges, and Clelin Ferrell from Clemson should be a name that comes off the board early next April.

Ferrell would team with 2018 third rounder Arden Key to give the Raiders two young, dynamic players at the defensive end position. The Raiders have been absolutely atrocious at getting pressure this season, but Key continues to get better every week, and now the plan has to be to put some talent around him.
