High Salary PF

Players costing over $6,667

Anthony Davis (at HOU – $12,400): Needs 49.2 fantasy points. Much like Giannis, you’re going to need to commit a lot to add Davis to your team. But if last season is any indication, Davis is going to go nuts this year. The only problem is, I’m not sure it’ll happen against Houston. They did as good of a job as you can on him last season. Now, the addition of Carmelo Anthony does take away a defensive identity that they carved out last season. And if Houston plays Anthony at power forward, you can bet Davis will punish him. Diagnosis: I’m never going to say “don’t take Anthony Davis.” But I’m not as high on him on Wednesday as I’ll be for the rest of the season. He’s still Anthony Davis.

LaMarcus Aldridge (vs MIN – $8,200): Needs 32.5 fantasy points. Aldridge was a fantasy beast last year as the top option in San Antonio. The addition of DeMar DeRozan is going to take away some touches and opportunities for Aldridge, but he’s still a handful in the high post with his shooting. And this is Minnesota’s defense we’re talking about. Aldridge dominated them last season and I suspect Popovich will pick on Karl-Anthony Towns a lot on Wednesday. Diagnosis: A good matchup for Aldridge to dominate. As always, trust in Pop. Especially on opening night against whatever Minnesota is right now.

Tobias Harris (vs DEN – $7,600): Needs 30.2 fantasy points. Have I banged on this matchup enough? Harris was not good against the Nuggets last season and was a little spotty after the trade that brought him to Los Angeles. But with DeAndre Jordan no longer in the mix, I suspect we’ll see more Harris on offense and on the glass. And again, this is a matchup that is going to produce a bunch of high-end fantasy performances. Diagnosis: Love his ceiling and expect big things out of him on Wednesday. Could easily see him reach 40 fantasy points.
