If anyone says “but he plays for Memphis in a weak conference” about Darrell Henderson when the Heisman discussion comes up, they haven’t really watched him play.

Henderson leads the nation in rushing yards, yards-per-carry, plays of over 50 yards (8), all-purpose yards (1,435), and is second in the nation in rushing touchdowns. Even in the one-point loss to undefeated UCF, Henderson managed to put up some great numbers.

The Heisman run by Henderson is historic, as the Tigers have never had a Heisman winner. Even getting the invite to New York would be a huge accomplishment. If Henderson keeps up his current pace, it will be more than just an invite.

This week the Tigers will travel to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers, a team who has had some difficulty stopping the run this season at times. This is an opportunity for Henderson to have his “Heisman moment” against a very good Power-5 team on the road.
