Heisman Watch 2018: Darrell Henderson making run at history, Week 8 outlook
2018 Stats: 96 of 135, 1764 yds, 377 rush yds, 21TD, 3 INT, 5 rush TD
Next Game: @ TCU
Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is still considered a frontrunner for the Heisman, despite the loss to Texas in Week 6, when it was hardly Murray’s fault the Sooners were upset by the upstart Longhorns.
Redemption will not come easily against TCU this week. Oklahoma and their quarterback will be hungry to bounce back, but the Horned Frogs have been one of the toughest pass defenses in the nation this year, giving up only 182 passing yards per game.
This game will be a true litmus test for both Murray and the Sooners to determine the direction of the rest of the season. With an extra week to heal, prepare and mentally recharge, Murray should be at his best against TCU.
Look for Murray to use his legs a lot in the early going. The Sooners will want to pound the ball, and Murray will use his scrambling ability. TCU head coach Gary Patterson is one of the best at making halftime adjustments, and that may open things up in the passing game during the second half.
