Heisman Watch 2018: Darrell Henderson making run at history, Week 8 outlook
2018 Stats: 88 of 123, 1760 yds, 21 TD, 0 INT, 117 rush yds, 2 rush TD
Next Game: @ Tennessee
Tua Tagovailoa isn’t blowing anyone away with most of his stats. So why is he sitting (again) on top of the Heisman rankings?
Because Tua has been able to put together this kind of season without having to take a snap in the fourth quarter of any game, and because Tua has still yet to throw an interception this year.
When you watch Tagovailoa play, it’s like watching a video game. He moves around the field with an uncanny smoothness and the accuracy of this passes (particularly the deep ball) is second to none. Rarely do his receivers have to break stride to catch a pass.
But watch out this week. It’s the Third Saturday in October, and If ever there was an upset brewing for the Crimson Tide in 2018, this could be it. Tennessee is riding high after winning their first conference game since 2016 against Auburn last week, and they’d like nothing more than to run the table against the state of Alabama.
Of course, there is a huge difference in the anemic and impotent offense of the Auburn Tigers and the well-oiled machine that is Alabama. The last time the Vols beat Alabama was 2006, and they haven’t even come close in the last two years. Despite Tua’s injury last week, he and the Tide should come out unscathed against the Vols.
