High Value SF

Players costing $6,667 or under

Otto Porter Jr. (vs MIA – $6,400): Needs 26.3 fantasy points. Porter Jr. is one of those guys who I believe will give you more bang for your buck than Covington on Thursday. He had a rough end to the season and into the playoffs, but he was not 100 percent and it showed. He should be healthy to start the season and if he is, he’ll return to being the guy who hits shots and chips in with rebounding and defense. Catching a tired Miami group should help his cause. Diagnosis: I like him at this salary even if his ceiling is a bit limited as the third option on the team.

Jabari Parker (at PHI – $6,200): Needs 25.5 fantasy points. I’ve always liked Jabari Parker, but injuries have pretty much destroyed his career. Maybe he can salvage things on the Bulls, but the Bulls are such a weird mix of players that I don’t know if it will work. And if it does, I’m definitely not buying into it on opening night, on the road, against Philadelphia. The potential is there, but he’s most certainly a risk. Diagnosis: A risky player with some upside. Could surprise if things go extremely right for Chicago.

Jeff Green. (vs MIA – $3,600): Needs 14.8 fantasy points The Wizards think highly of Green (he’s basically LeBron, in case you didn’t know) which means you should think highly of Green on opening night. He’s going to get more playing time than he should, make a couple of highlight plays, and somehow finish with 15 fantasy points. Diagnosis: I’ll rarely recommend Jeff Green. But the Wizards are saying too many good things about him for him to not get a chance. Could be used as your dropped spot at the very least.
