FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – October 18, 2018
High Salary PF
Players costing over $6,667
Brandon Ingram (at POR – $6,800): Needs 27 fantasy points. I don’t have a ton of confidence with many players on the Lakers, but I do have confidence in Ingram. I love his game and think he’ll take a big leap this year playing next to LeBron. He’s a lanky guy who is going to come up with rebounds to go along with his scoring and passing. Look for him to have a strong start to the season. Diagnosis: A good salary for a guy with a very high ceiling next to LeBron. If you’re not as high as I am on him, then you probably won’t like him quite as much. But there’s a lot to love about his game and fit next to LeBron.
Kelly Olynyk (at WAS – $6,100): Needs 24.2 fantasy point. I’ll own up to thinking Olynyk would be impactful on Wednesday. I thought with Johnson out, he would play more than 15 minutes. He did not. Because of that, he’s a risk on Thursday. Since Miami is typically a balanced squad, I could see him having a bounce-back performance that makes no sense. But it’s tough to bounce back if you’re barely on the court. Diagnosis: No Johnson, in theory, means he should play more. But Wednesday showed that theories can be wrong.
Kyle Kuzma (at POR – $6,000): Needs 23.8 fantasy points. Not much in terms of high salary guys at power forward. Kuzma got off to a strong start last season but tailed off after that. He can hit open shots, which is good news for him playing next to LeBron. Once again, I don’t know how the fit or playing time will be with a lot of players on the Lakers. But as a shooter, he should get solid minutes. Diagnosis: A risky option just due to the many unknowns surrounding the Lakers.
