Loser: Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 2 down to No. 11)

All Ohio State had to do is win on the road against a .500 Purdue team and the Buckeyes likely would have gotten out of the “tough” part of their October stretch with an unbeaten record.

The Boilermakers had different plants.

Purdue out-played the Buckeyes for 60 minutes and came away with a convincing 49-20 victory in West Lafayette. It wasn’t just a fluke win, though, as the Boilermakers held the lead the entire way and did what no team had been able to do to the Buckeyes all season long and that’s hold the offense in check.

Sure, Haskins had 470 yards and three touchdown passes, but he needed an eye-popping 73 attempts to reach that mark. His Heisman campaign is still alive, but it took a decent hit against the Boilermakers on Saturday.

Losing as the No. 2 team in the country is rough, especially this late in the year, but we’ve seen the Buckeyes suffer this type of loss before and still make a run at a Big Ten title and the College Football Playoff — just like last year.
