6. McKenzie Milton, QB, UCF

The two things that UCF Knights quarterback McKenzie Milton has done over the last two seasons relentlessly is put up a massive amount of points — either with his arm or with his legs — and win football games. On Saturday in Week 8, however, Milton was unable to do either of those things.

In the win over Memphis last week while scoring the game-winning touchdown, Milton reportedly tweaked his ankle and was kept off the field in Week 8 as the Knights took on the East Carolina Pirates. UCF got the win still, but Milton obviously wasn’t on the field to do anything for his Heisman candidacy. Even still, with 22 total touchdowns and over 2,000 yards of total offense on the year, he remains in the conversation.

5. Will Grier, QB, West Virginia

Knowing the competitor that West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier is, he’s chomping at the bit to get back on the field after what happened one week ago. The Mountaineers entered a matchup with a solid-but-not-great Iowa State team with no losses and seemingly in position to make a College Football Playoff run. Instead, Grier and West Virginia laid a complete egg against the Cyclones as the quarterback played his worst game of the 2018 season and it showed in a 30-14 loss.

Grier has since had a week off to stew over that performance and the resulting defeat. That lackluster performance obviously caused him to slide down these Heisman rankings a bit, but if he can bounce back and keep West Virginia in the top-10 mix moving forward, he has the potential to climb back up a bit.
