2. Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

The last time that we saw Kyler Murray at the helm of the Oklahoma Sooners offense, he was trying valiantly to lead a comeback against the rival Texas Longhorns. The ultra-athletic quarterback almost single-handedly gave his team the win in the Red River Showdown, but he and the Sooners ultimately fell short. As such, Murray was looking for a bit of redemption as he and OU went on the road to face the TCU Horned Frogs.

Any frustrations that Murray had building within, he took out on Gary Patterson’s team on Saturday afternoon. He was near perfect on 19-of-24 passing and, though he only threw for 213 yards on the day, he ended the affair with four touchdowns and 51 yards rushing as well. Murray now has 30 total touchdowns on the year and, without question, remains nipping at the heels of No. 1.

1. Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

At some point, you would think that Tua Tagovailoa might come down to Earth and stop dominating every defense that’s put in front of him. That, however, was not something that was going to happen this week against the Tennessee Volunteers, even with Jeremy Pruitt’s team coming off of their first signature win of the coach’s young tenure in Knoxville.

Tua brought the Vols back down a notch as he eviscerated them through the air. Tagovailoa finished the game with 306 passing yards, four touchdowns and still no interceptions. That now gives the super sophomore 25 passing touchdowns on the season with no interceptions — not to mention the two rushing touchdowns that he’s also scored this season. The Alabama star is truly putting up numbers that are near unprecedented and there doesn’t appear to be any sign of letting up.
