No. 24 – William Byron
Liberty University
The 2018 rookie won’t be a Cup Series newbie in 2019, but he will still be a college student. Hence, Liberty University returns, and the big difference is that it has a lot more white. Roof and door numbers and thicker trim along the sides. The flames are a nice nod to Jeff Gordon as well.
Axalta
Speaking of Jeff Gordon tributes, Byron’s Axalta paint scheme is even more of a direct homage. Very little is different for 2019, which looks nearly identical to the 2018 design. Don’t fix what ain’t broke.
UniFirst
Speaking of not much different, this UniFirst design is pretty much the same as its 2018 counterpart as well. The big change is the black door numbers, which stand out a little bit better against the green and white swoosh compared to the white numbers from before.
Hertz
Sometimes less can be more. The 2018 Hertz paint scheme was busier, with black along the front bumper, diagonal black stripes, a black hood and contrasting yellow roof numbers. For 2019, Byron will ride with Hertz in all yellow, with should be easy to spot on the track and just looks cleaner in this writer’s opinion.
