Young Boys face Valencia at the Stade de Suisse on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Last season, Young Boys won their first Swiss title since 1986, ending Basel’s run of eight consecutive championships. Coach Adi Huetter moved on to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany over the summer and was replaced by 39-year-old Gerardo Seoane, who’d led FC Luzern to a third-place finish in Swiss league. The Bern club have at least managed to keep their squad largely intact, with the only notable departure being Kasim Adams to Hoffenheim for £7.2 million.

The most familiar faces in the Young Boys team are probably Serbian winger Miralem Sulejmani, previously of Ajax and Benfica, and striker Guillaume Hoarau, a former French international who played more than 100 times for PSG prior to the deluge of big-money signings at the Paris club. While they’ve so far lost both Champions League games 3-0, Young Boys’ encounter with Manchester United was largely an even game, settled by a moment of brilliance from Paul Pogba, a harsh penalty and a cruelly deflected shot. They were then outplayed against Juventus in Turin, with Pablo Dybala netting a hat-trick, but they’re hardly the first team to suffer that fate this season and they certainly won’t be the last.

After going into this campaign on a high, it took Marcelino’s Valencia side seven games to register their first league win, although their performances were often better than the results indicated. And while Kevin Gameiro’s scoring touch has deserted him thus far, it’s likely to return sooner rather than later. Following a poor display at home in the opening group game against Juventus, when they played against ten men for more than an hour due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card, Valencia were much improved at Old Trafford in early October. That goalless encounter wasn’t much of a spectacle, but it showed that they have the ability to grind out away draws, which is an invaluable skill in European football.
