No. 8 Bears D/ST vs New York (Jets)

Let’s not go crucifying me here. Alright, elephant in the room. The Bears defense has been awful the past two weeks. They almost won both games and yet they now sit at the bottom of the NFC North at 3-3. Elephant out of the room.

This matchup is really good for the Bears and the AFC East tour continues. The Bears want nothing more than to even out a division after starting 0-2 in losses to Miami and New England.

Rookie Sam Darnold is coming off his worst outing of the year in the loss to MInnesota. Darnold finished with a QB rating of 34.4, yikes, and went 17-of-42 with one touchdown and a trio of interceptions. What’s been the killer for the Bears defensively? Short passes, screen passes and dink and dunks over the middle (We’ll mention one in a moment actually).

The Bears defense seemed to fix a few of those problems late in the loss to New England, getting stops when they needed them. That has to carry over as it’s been a deciding factor the last two weeks. YAC is a silent killer and the Bears felt that heavily in the losses to MIami and New England.
