NFL Week 8 picks against the spread
By Nick Villano
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-7.5)
Here’s another massive spread between divisional opponents. The Cleveland Browns proved they aren’t the team we saw last two years, but they also proved they don’t know how to win. Baker Mayfield showed some issues last week when he had issues moving the offense against the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers took the week off last week. Not by choice, it was their bye week. It honestly came at a really bad time for them. They were coming off back-to-back wins, with James Connor playing really well at the running back position.
Still, this is a massive spread. The Browns lost one game by more than seven points, and that was against the Chargers. The Steelers still have too many questions, and could still put up a stinker, to get more than a touchdown to an average team.

Baltimore Ravens @ Carolina Panthers (PK)
If memory serves me correctly, we have our first pick’em of the 2018 NFL season. I feel like that’s an anomaly, but correct me if I’m wrong. Either way, this is an extremely interesting matchup. The Carolina Panthers have been playing with fire all season, and eventually they will get burned. They got lucky last week, coming back from a 17 point deficit.
The Ravens, on the other hand, got about as unlucky as possible. Justin Tucker was setting up to hit the game-tying extra point with time about to expire. He’s never missed an extra point in his college or professional career, so this was easy. Unfortunately, he missed the kick. It was about as heartbreaking a loss as one could have.
This is where the Panthers get burned. The Ravens are coming into this game in a certain kind of mood, and this team thrives off anger. The Panthers have been sneaking by, but this is the week their luck runs out.
