15 best Seth Rogen movies
By Amy Kaplan
9. The 40-Year-Old Virgin
This movie is easily one of the funniest movies on the whole list but places moderately low due to Rogen’s minimal appearance. The plot is of… wait for it… a 40-year-old virgin. Upon hearing of this sad state, his co-workers (Rogen being one of them) hatch numerous plots to get him laid.
In 2005, the film was chosen by the American Film Institute as one of the ten best movies of the year and was ranked No. 30 on Bravo’s 100 Funniest Movies. The film opened at No. 1 at the box office, grossing $21,422,815 during its first weekend.
10. Monsters vs. Aliens
This DreamWorks Animation film is the only animated film on this list (but Rogen has appeared in many). In addition to the voice of Rogen is Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Kiefer Sutherland, Rainn Wilson, Paul Rudd and Stephen Colbert, making it a blockbuster affair.
If you don’t have a kid (or like animated films) you might not know much about it, but it’s actually a pretty fun flick. The plot is described as follows:
"When a meteor full of space gunk transforms Susan Murphy into a giant, the government renames her Ginormica and confines her to a secret compound with other monsters. When an extraterrestrial robot lands on Earth and begins a rampage, Gen. W.R. Monger persuades the president to send Ginormica and her fellow monsters to battle the machine and save the planet."
Rogen voices B.O.B., one of the fellow monsters who helps to save the planet.
The film grossed $381 million worldwide and helped to spawn B.O.B.’s Big Break (a short film), two television specials and a television series.
