WWE Crown Jewel 2018: Preview and predictions
By Luke Norris
Match for the vacant WWE Universal Championship
Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar
Following the announcement from Roman Reigns last week (YOU GOT THIS, ROMAN) that he would relinquish the WWE Universal Championship, the planned Triple Threat was turned into a one-on-one match featuring Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar.
The two have plenty of history, including a one-on-one match last year at No Mercy (Lesnar obviously took that one), and I’d almost bet that this would have been the plan for WrestleMania 35 under different circumstances, but here we are. This match is certain to be physical and will likely go on last.
Prediction: There’s no way that they can put the title back on Brock Lesnar, is there? With Roman now taking time off, Braun is in prime position to take that top spot on Monday Night RAW, and there’s no better way to do that than by knocking off Lesnar. The problem is that, like The Undertaker, it’s not like Lesnar to lose twice in this short amount of time so there is the chance that he does actually get a win here, especially if Drew McIntyre gets involved. We may be in for another Universal Championship absence.
But I’m going to try and be optimistic here and say that Strowman will overcome it all and win his first real championship. No, that belt from the last time WWE was in Saudi Arabia doesn’t count. And sorry, Nicholas, those tag titles don’t count either.
