Fantasy Football, Week 9: High value plays for DraftKings
By Dylan Broady
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings, $6,200
Stats: 2,521 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, 78 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
Kirk Cousins has been exactly what this Minnesota Vikings team has needed to take that next step to making the Super Bowl. Despite the criticism Cousins has played exceptionally well this season. He ranks second is passing yards, sixth in touchdowns and No.1 in completions. Not to mention how he has elevated this Vikings offense.
Online you will find many different opinions of the Vikings season and maybe see where some think Cousins is a major bust. But if we dive into his numbers he is still a top tier quarterback not only in fantasy but as a whole in the NFL. The Vikings record is 4-3-1 but as a team you have to feel good about their potential. Week 9 Cousins has a home date with the Detroit Lions’ 19th-ranked defense.
Don’t sleep on this man as a viable fantasy football option. His production has been steady and reliable. At his price coming into Week 9 facing a mediocre Lions defense, you should jump at the opportunity to grab him up and utilize more of your money on your skill position players. Cousins provides you with that option in your lineups this week. Take advantage of it and smile.
Cousins is averaging 315 passing yards per game this season. That’s something you should take note of. Even up against tough defenses like Buffalo and L.A., Cousins still managed decent fantasy production. Even in a embarrassing loss to the Bills in Week 3, Cousins threw for almost 300 passing yards. Against the Rams stout defense Cousins lit them up for over 400 passing yards and three touchdowns.
The Detroit Lions offer a juicy opportunity for Cousins to keep up his top five productive pace.
Prediction: 350 passing yards, 3 touchdowns
