Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots

After suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8, the Green Bay Packers must bounce back for a Sunday Night Football matchup against another elite team. Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady will be the story here when the Packers take on the New England Patriots, but Aaron Jones could be the ace up Mike McCarthy’s sleeve, assuming McCarthy has finally smartened up after all these weeks.

Stubbornly, the Packers have refused to give Jones more than 12 carries in a single game this season, despite the fact that Jones has been one of the stars of the Packers offense with 6.2 yards per carry. Even though the Packers have held him back, Jones has still managed to rack up 54.8 rushing yards per game because of his breathtaking efficiency.

The Packers need to ride Jones as much as they can on Sunday in New England, and they showed signs of trusting Jones more in Week 8 by giving him a season-high 12 carries. The second-year pro rewarded the Packers with 86 rushing yards and his second touchdown of the season.

Jamaal Williams seems to be the Packers favored goal-line option and has the edge in terms of snaps in the passing game, but he really should be rendered obsolete in this offense after turning in lousy performance after lousy performance. Simply put, Williams isn’t even half the player Jones is, and patient fantasy owners will soon reap the rewards for sticking with Jones, who could be a true breakout star down the stretch of the fantasy football season if the Packers figure it out.
