Devontae Booker, Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans

Phillip Lindsay is definitely the running back to own on the Denver Broncos in fantasy football, but with the talented Royce Freeman injured, Devontae Booker made his case as a fantasy option by putting together an incredibly efficient Week 8 performance.

Facing the Kansas City Chiefs well below-average run defense, Booker easily had his best game of the season, prancing for 78 yards on nine carries and adding 23 receiving yards on 4 receptions. Booker has shown value in the passing game throughout the season, including when he racked up 59 receiving yards on the New York Jets in Week 5.

While Booker isn’t a safe option in fantasy, the Broncos do seem to like giving the running backs behind Lindsay a chance to steal touches away from the back who should be their clear No. 1 guy. Booker, of course, is talented in his own right and has legitimate three-down ability.

An encore performance against the Houston Texans in Week 9 could do wonders, and the Texans did struggle against Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore in Week 8. That gives Booker an opening to once again produce behind Lindsay.

On the season, Booker is averaging 5.9 yards per carry, so he is a candidate to get more playing time, given that Lindsay only set a career-high with 18 carries last week.
