3. Start Ryan Fitzpatrick

“FitzMagic” is back. He took over for a benched Jameis Winston in Week 8 and engineered a comeback that fell just short against the Cincinnati Bengals with 194 yards and two touchdowns. He’s back starting in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers, presumably until further notice.

Fitzpatrick started this season on fire, with three straight 400-plus yard games with 11 touchdown passes. But three interceptions in that third game, and the Buccaneers getting blown out in the first half of Week 4, led to Winston getting the job back.

The Carolina Panthers are a mid-pack fantasy defense against quarterbacks. But they’ve allowed multiple passing touchdowns in each of their last six games, and over 300 yards through the air in three of those.

In five straight games, an opposing quarterback has had at least 36 pass attempts against the Panthers.

In his three starts earlier this season, Fitzpatrick averaged 37 pass attempts per game. A bad Buccaneers’ defense brings weekly shootouts into play, and Sunday should be no different. If you’re looking for a bye week option at quarterback in Week 9, look no further.
