3. Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

Here is another rookie for you who is now finding himself in a similar situation as Golladay. Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Courtland Sutton, whom they selected with the 40th overall pick in the 2018 draft, might be getting a significant increase in targets starting in Week 9.

Why is that? Because the Broncos made a very big deal at the trade deadline, shipping their longtime wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans. Thomas has been with Denver since 2010, and a few years ago was regarded was one of the elite pass catchers in the entire NFL. As someone who was named to five consecutive Pro Bowls from 2012 through 2016, as well as a two-time Second-team All-Pro, it makes sense why Thomas was so valuable to the Broncos offense for so many years.

But at 3-5 this year, Denver’s playoff hopes are getting slimmer and slimmer, and they clearly felt that it was time to move on from the 30-year-old veteran and make more room for the younger players to grow. Now is the perfect chance to Sutton, the 23-year-old out of SMU, to get some more reps and some more targets from quarterback Case Keenum.

Coincidentally, the Broncos will be welcoming Thomas and the Texans back to the Mile High City in Week 9. Sutton recorded a season-high 78 receiving yards against Kansas City last week, and the Broncos would love to see him improve on that against Thomas’ new team this week.

From a fantasy standpoint, Sutton hasn’t put up bad numbers to this point. But now, he could really start to take off.
