SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

The Bar (c) vs. The New Day

What we learned: I think we were supposed to learn here that The Bar is even more dangerous now with Big Show on their side. That partnership still doesn’t make a ton of sense to me but things are what they are.

As far as the match goes, this certainly wasn’t the best match that these two teams have ever had — and there’s certainly been some great battles in there — but this was entertaining enough. It seemed as if all four competitors in this bout were determined on being a little stiff and that showed on Sheamus’ chest.

Both teams got their fair share of offense in as they went back and forth. Kofi probably took the most punishment out of anyone in this match as Sheamus and Cesaro used the classic tag formula of keeping him isolated for a little while. But he fought back nicely and got the hot tag to Big E, who I still sometimes forget can move like he does.

It looked like The New Day was all set for title reign number six, but The Big Show got involved and drilled Big E with the knockout blow that led right into the Brogue Kick from Sheamus for the 1-2-3.

What’s next: Logically, it would seem that The New Day are now out of chances to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, but I guess logic often doesn’t come into play in WWE all the time, does it? With Survivor Series right around the corner and things shaping up for all the champions of each brand to face the opposing brand’s champions, The Bar should be gearing up to take on Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

The problem there is that Rollins already has a match set up with United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. So I honestly don’t know what’s next for The Bar. Getting the win like they did at Crown Jewel sets up for this feud to continue, but as I said, it wouldn’t make sense. So who knows at this point what creative has in store?
