Rotation

  1. deGrom
  2. Syndergaard
  3. Wheeler
  4. Matz
  5. Dunn

Bullpen

CL: Herrera

SU: Ottavino

Lugo

Gsellman

Swarzak

Smith

McFarland

Vargas

The Mets rotation from top to bottom is as good as any in the league. deGrom and Syndergaard at the top is a dynamic one-two punch. deGrom is likely the Cy Young from 2018 and Noah Syndergaard is a flamethrowing youngster.

Under Mickey Calloway, both Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz had bounce-back seasons in 2018. Between those four and the emergence of youngster Justin Dunn the Mets rotation is extremely effective.

As for the bullpen, the three big new additions will help immensely. Kelvin Herrera slots in as the closer with Ottavino coming over from Colorado as your new setup man. Jason Vargas gets moved to the pen as the lefty specialist.

Next. The Yankees are overpaying Brett Gardner. dark

If the Mets head into the 2019 season with a roster even remotely close to this one they’ll be in good shape. The NL East looks strong with the emergence of the Braves and the Phillies but if the Mets want to keep pace Brodie Van Wagenen is going to have to get busy.
