NBA Power Rankings: Come fall in love with the Sacramento Kings
By Ian Levy
The Spurs continue to conjure miraculous results, losing a tough game to the Magic but beating the Suns and Pelicans by healthy margins. Concerns about the pairing of DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are looking increasingly silly — San Antonio has scored an average of 113.8 points per 100 possessions with the pair on the floor, a number that would rank fifth in the league if sustained across the entire season.
DeRozan’s 3-point shooting has regressed from his rosy performance last year, but that’s to be expected with the ball in his hands more. Despite that, he’s been an MVP-caliber performer — averaging 27.3 points, 6.7 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game with a 30.1 usage rate and a 58.4 true shooting percentage. It all still feels relatively fragile but given the Spurs’ track record you have to take the results at face value until things really start to unravel.
