16. Andy Dalton (LW: 17)

Dalton is trying to get back to the playoffs for the sixth time in his career, and so far, he’s doing a fine job. The Bengals are going to without A.J. Green for a few weeks, meaning Dalton will have to be even better than before to get Cincinnati back into the postseason.

15. Matthew Stafford (LW: 16)

We’re all going to look back at Stafford’s career and wonder what could have. He’s never had a quality running game, Calvin Johnson retired early, the coaching staff has been a revolving mess and the defenses have been average at best. It’s hard to argue with 2,111 yards and a 67.8 completion rate, but it’s never good enough in Detroit.

14. Carson Wentz (LW: 14)

Wentz is playing good football, and if you went by the stats, elite football. The MVP candidate of a  year ago has 13 touchdowns and a 70.2 completion rate in only six games this year, but the Eagles are 4-4 largely because the secondary has regressed, and the offense goes cold too often. Look for that to change over the next few months.

13. Cam Newton (LW: 13)

Newton has the Panthers playing their best ball since reaching Super Bowl 50 back in the 2015 season. Carolina is 6-2 with Devin Funchess as its best receiver, utilizing Newton’s unique skill set, Greg Olsen at tight end and the do-it-all talents of Christian McCaffrey. Don’t look now, but Newton and the Panthers are contenders.
