2019 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders nab Nick Bosa at No. 2
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets had a golden opportunity to get to .500 prior to their bye week last weekend, as they went to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins. Beating the Dolphins last weekend, and then the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, would have sent them to their bye week at 5-5, and in position to make a playoff push.
However, Sam Darnold was an interception machine against the Dolphins, as the Jets lost a bad one against Miami by the score of 13-6. They just could not do anything on the offensive side of the ball, and if they continue to let Darnold take a pounding, they could stunt the growth of a guy who could be a franchise quarterback in this league.
The defensive side of the ball was solid, but if the Jets want to contend in the AFC East moving forward, they have to get better at getting after the quarterback. While they will likely be picking in the top-10, there is hope for the future, especially with Darnold, so adding a quality player on defense this upcoming draft makes sense.
When it comes to edge rushers, Nick Bosa is the top guy, but Clelin Ferrell is not too far behind. In fact, Ferrell is a major reason why the Clemson Tigers are likely headed to another College Football Playoff this season, and would be a guy who could make an instant impact inside Metlife Stadium as early as next year.
