1. Carlos Carrasco

Kluber isn’t the only pitcher the Indians are shopping at the moment, Carrasco is also on the block. It seems much more likely that Cleveland will end up moving him than their unquestioned ace.

For the record, dealing for Carrasco would be a terrific consolation prize. He may not be a No. 1 starter, but he’s pretty close. He threw 192 innings for Cleveland last season and posted a very respectable ERA of 3.38. Those sorts of numbers would allow him to slot comfortably alongside Luis Severino and Masahiro Tanaka at the top of Boone’s rotation.

His value gets increased a tick because his salary is only $9.75 million next season. That’s an absolute steal in this market. Patrick Corbin, a pitcher with less of a track record, will comfortably demand over $20 million per season in free agency.

Bringing Carrasco to the Bronx won’t excite the Yankees fan base quite like the other pitchers on this list, but it could be the best move available to Cashman. If the Indians are willing to accept significantly less for Carrasco than Kluber, he could easily end up being the pitcher headed to the Bronx. Keep a close eye on his status during the next several weeks.
