NFL quarterback rankings, Week 11: Baker Mayfield shines
Bernie Kosar Division
16. Matthew Stafford (LW: 15)
I’ve always been high on Stafford, even when I’m low on the Lions. That has somewhat changed this season. At 30 years old, you have to be able to elevate the team somewhat, especially with good receivers and a quality running back around you. Somehow, Detroit still stinks, headed for a last-place NFC North finish.
15. Alex Smith (LW: 17)
Smith is living up to his brand of being a game manager. The Redskins are 6-3, they play an extremely conservative style of football, and Smith just keeps winning. Through nine games, Smith has 2,045 yards, 23rd-most in the NFL. Incredibly, he has also thrown only 10 touchdowns against three interceptions.
14. Carson Wentz (LW: 14)
Wentz and the Eagles just appears out of sync. The stats show that Wentz has been terrific all season, throwing for 15 touchdowns and three picks. However, the film shows a litany of dropped interceptions and a lack of movement in the pocket, at least in comparison to a year ago pre-ACL injury.
13. Cam Newton (LW: 13)
Newton was horrendous against the Steelers, but I’m not moving him. The former Heisman Trophy winner has been excellent for much of the campaign, and Thursday night was a case of exception to the rule. The Panthers were atrocious in their first primetime performance of the year, something both they and Newton will rebound from.
