2019 NFL mock draft: Broncos get QB in Drew Lock
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants picked up a big win on Monday night, as they went across the country and beat Nick Mullens and the San Francisco 49ers. With the win, the Giants lost the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, but they still may be able to get their guy with the No. 3 selection next April.
Quarterback Eli Manning needed a good game to keep his starting job against the 49ers, and he delivered, showing some vintage Eli along the way. Still, his run as the starting quarterback in New York is coming to an end, and the team needs to spend their first round pick on his successor.
Last year, the Giants passed on a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick, selecting Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. They do not figure to do the same thing in 2019, and if Oregon signal-caller Justin Herbert decides to come out early, he will definitely be the first quarterback off the board.
There has been speculation that Herbert will stay another year at Oregon, but that is only a rumor, as he has not stated what he is going to do, either way. The Giants need a plan once Eli is done, as they have failed to address this in recent years, and Herbert is the best NFL prospect this draft class has to offer at the position.
