Yankees should trade Miguel Andujar for one of these five aces
3. Corey Kluber
Kluber is the first guy on this list that has a significant chance to be dealt this winter. The Indians have made it clear they’re ready to listen to offers for Kluber and Carlos Carrasco. That doesn’t mean he’s going anywhere on the cheap, but the Yankees have the ammunition to get a deal done for the Tribe ace.
The presence of Jose Ramirez in Cleveland does complicate matters. The Indians would only be interested in acquiring Andujar if they believe he can be effectively moved to another position. That’s certainly possible, but it would take a slight leap of faith by the team’s front office.
Despite those issues, Andujar may be the best piece Cleveland gets offered in return for their ace. Kluber’s age is going to turn off teams who aren’t ready to compete right away. The Yankees obviously won’t have that problem.
The more interesting question about Cleveland from the Yankees perspective is which pitcher Cashman might be more interested in. Kluber is the ace New York is looking for, but Carrasco might be easier to acquire. Don’t expect Andujar to be included in a move for anyone but Kluber though.
