9. Josh Adams, Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

The Philadelphia Eagles may have to employ a pass-heavy offense, which is music to head coach Doug Pederson’s ears, against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11. With wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, who fired their defensive coordinator immediately after their 51-14 loss to New Orleans, the Saints look like the NFL’s scariest team.

In order to have a shot at winning, the Eagles must get their best players as involved as possible. Though Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement are decent running backs, it’s obvious that Josh Adams is the true standout in this Eagles backfield. If the Eagles are to keep up with Washington in the NFC East – and believe me, typing that out is frustrating, given how uninspiring Washington look on the field – they must feed Adams constantly.

Last week, Adams carried the ball just seven times against the Dallas Cowboys, but he converted those meager rushing attempts into 47 yards. Over the past two weeks, Adams has averaged 6.8 and 6.7 yards per carry, respectively, and Pederson himself confirmed that more carries for Adams will be forthcoming.

There might not be many chances for fantasy owners to take advantage of Adams before he blows up, and it’s rare to find a breakout candidate of this sort late in the season. Adams could be worth the start this week, even in the possible shootout.
