Fantasy Football 2018: 10 RB sleepers to target for Week 11
7. Ty Montgomery, Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals allow 58.5 receiving yards per game to running backs this season, which is the sixth-most in the NFL. Teams often throw the ball to their running backs against Cincinnati’s struggling defense, which may not find its footing despite firing Teryl Austin.
Ty Montgomery could benefit. He hasn’t featured in a game for the Baltimore Ravens yet, but that looks like it could change in Week 11. After the Green Bay Packers fell out of favor with him, Montgomery is looking to make an impact as the Ravens No. 2 running back behind shorty-yard aficionado (read: plodder) Alex Collins.
Montgomery is a superior player to Javorius Allen, and he could be a huge help to Lamar Jackson, Joe Flacco, Robert Griffin III, or whoever features at quarterback. If Jackson plays, which is expected, Montgomery’s value figures to rise, since Jackson may rely on Montgomery as a rookie quarterback in his first NFL start. Furthermore, the special packages with Jackson and Montgomery could be a headache for the Bengals coaching staff and defense to deal with.
There’s no questioning Montgomery’s playmaking ability as a receiver, and it will be interesting to see his usage in Week 11. He’s a possible upside play, but he is a gamble.
