6. Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Denver Broncos running back Royce Freeman has returned to the team after the bye week, and he could play a critical role in Denver’s Week 11 rivalry game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Phillip Lindsay appears to be the Broncos lead back, as he had two strong games before carrying the rock 17 times in Week 9 before the bye against the Houston Texans.

Lindsay has benefited from playing against soft fronts, whereas Freeman, a talented third-round rookie out of Oregon, has faced more stacked boxes this season. Freeman’s talent is difficult to deny, but the production hasn’t necessarily been there, given that Devontae Booker and Lindsay have both been more efficient.

Still, the Broncos shouldn’t give up on Freeman, and he has value as a rusher. Freeman’s fantasy upside is capped by his lack of a role in the passing game (just four receptions this year for 21 yards), but he has averaged 4.4 yards per carry despite dealing with some issues this season. Fresh off the bye, Freeman could be a good play in deeper leagues, especially if he can capture lightning in a bottle against the Chargers this week.

Freeman had 13 carries and a touchdown in his last game before the bye, and with four scores on the season, he’s a good bet to vulture a touchdown from Lindsay when in the lineup.
